Osteopathy Awareness Week
Osteopathy Awareness Week (OAW) runs from April 14-20 this year and Osteopathy Australia is the governing body that is encouraging the nation to #GiveItAGo !
Osteopathy is a growing manual health care & osteopaths are doing their best to continue to develop and strengthen as the manual healthcare of choice for all Australians. Approximately 300,000 Australians visit an osteopath each month and each of them experiences their own journey with Osteopathy (1).
Osteopathy aims to improve health across all body systems, through the utilisation of non-invasive manual therapy techniques that manipulate and strengthen the musculoskeletal framework. An osteopath is an allied health professional that has at least five years of university training and will focus on how the skeleton, joints, muscles, nervous system, circulation, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit.
So now is a better week than ever to find out more about how osteopathy can help you. In particular this year’s focus during OAW, is encouraging Australians to investigate better ways to prevent and manage sports injuries.
